50-55 minutes
Do you accept insurance?
I accept Anthem, Aetna, United Health Care, and Medicare. I also take private pay. For those with different insurance plans, I can provide a Superbill that you may send to your carrier for reimbursement (you will need to check with your carrier to determine your benefits, however).
How do I make an appointment?
You may call or send a message via the website, and I will respond within 24 hours.
Do you offer a free initial consultation?
Absolutely! Don’t hesitate to contact me, and I will gladly offer you a free 20-minute consultation.
With what age range do you work?
I work with adults ages 40-85.
Do you work with Men? Women?
I work with men and women.
What can I expect in the first session?
In the first session, I complete an assessment; I gather information to determine how I can best help you in therapy.
Does anyone cry in front of you?
Yes. Life is hard, and it’s okay to cry. And I am known to tear up as well, although I try to focus on you and what you always need – it’s your session.
Do you offer video or phone sessions?
I offer in-person, video, and phone sessions.
What is your educational background?
I received my bachelor’s in social work from Ferrum College and my master’s degree in social work from Radford University. I’ve been licensed in Virginia since 2013 as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
Do I have to tell you everything?

No. It’s your session, but the more I know, the more I can help. However, it sometimes takes a while before someone feels comfortable sharing sensitive information.

Do I have to lie on a couch?

No, and I do not recommend it for fear that you may go to sleep (LOL!). I have very comfortable chairs in my office and couches that you may SIT on!

Cats or Dogs?
Cats, dogs, chickens, squirrels, rabbits, deer, I love ALL critters! I live in the mountains on a farm, where I am fortunate to see wildlife frequently!
What are some fascinating things about you?

I used to work in the entertainment industry in Los Angeles. I was a page at NBC in Burbank and an administrator for the Emmy Awards Office for several years. I am married to a wonderful man, and we have a beautiful daughter whom we adopted from China.

What kind of dog is in the picture with you?

Cooper is a Malagasy Coton de Tulear; they are initially from Madagascar. Coton means cotton in French – as their fur is soft like cotton. Cooper is my only pure-bred dog (my other three are strays). I got him because Cotons are known as “anti-depression” dogs, so he works as my “assistant” therapist! He enjoys nothing more than sitting on someone’s lap!
